Hickory Tussock

The Hickory Tussock moth catterpillar is a garden-variety caterpillar that packs a poisonous punch. The five-centimetre critter is white with black markings and covered tufts of spiky hair.

It can be found throughout Southern Ontario and residents are  cautioned against touching the caterpillars as they can cause skin irritation in humans, similar to the effects of poison ivy.
